Join the Los Encinos Docent Association at Los Encinos State Historic Park, on the Saturday before Easter Sunday, starting around 1 P.M., for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Admission is free. Donations of any amount are welcome. This is our most popular event; a tradition for decades. In addition to the Egg Hunts for ages from toddlers to 10, we will have traditional games, a blacksmith, and old-time music, tours of the historic adobe and performers in period costume. The Egg Hunts will be grouped as follows: 1:30: Toddlers 2 and under (in the corral) 2:00: Kids 3 and 4 (in the corral) 2:30: Kids 5-6 (in the orange grove) 3:00: Kids 7-10 (in the orange grove) Saturday Oct 28 - Haunted History Spooky Jazz Age Halloween Oct 28 2017 4:00 pm

Live jazz age music will be provided by Dutch Newman's Musical Melodians, the lawn will be available for dancing; there will be activities for the kids and grown ups, and after dark, we'll have a showing of classic spooky cartoons and the 1925 Phantom of the Opera. Additional activities include a costume parade for kids and adults, and for the kids: pumpkin carving and painting, face painting, spooky stories and games. California Pizza Kitchen will set up on site, selling personal pan pizzas and beverages. The event is free but donations are encouraged. Presented by the Los Encinos Docent Association. Note: the park will be open from 10 AM, and you are welcome to come in any time. 4 PM is when the event formally kicks off and the band starts playing. Walter Nelson will present a review of the clothing worn by men in Southern California from the Mexican period to the early 20th Century. Extensive use will be made of original sources, such as the Los Encinos photo archive. There will also be practical suggestions for ways you can make your outfits more interesting and historical. Admission is free, but a donation to support educational activities at the park will be requested. Attendees are encouraged to wear historical costume. ![]() |
