Important Developments For The Docents Association

The Board of the Docents Association met today, Thursday March 29th, 2012.

The IRS letter reinstating the Docents Association as a 501(c)3 non-profit tax-exempt organization was received today.

A new operating agreement, spelling out how the Association will provide financial support to the Park has been finalized, but not yet received, reviewed and approved by the Board. However, once it is signed, the last major legal hurdle will have been cleared.

The Board has voted to create two additional positions.

The first will be "Board Member at Large". This will be filled by the current Treasurer once a new Treasurer, a CPA, joins the Board. A candidate has agreed to join us. At the next Board meeting, in April, he will be formally instated and take over treasurer duties.

The second will be a "Development Director" to direct and coordinate fund raising, grant making and outreach activities. We are seeking a candidate with some non-profit development experience.

The Board voted to create a "Community Advisory Council" to provide a community voice in our operations. The first meeting of this group will be called in the next few weeks, and invitations will go out to prospective members. Others who wish to join are also welcome to attend.
